Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants are made of tiny titanium screws that we place in your jaw to replace your tooth’s roots. The biocompatible material of an implant fuses with your jawbone to provide a permanent and stable foundation for the replacement crown. In addition to stability, the integration of implant with bone enables the jaw to maintain its mass and health.
Reliable and secure, tooth implants are the closest match to natural teeth and provide the following benefits:
- Permanence
- Jawbone preservation and health
- Enhanced quality of life
- Natural appearance
- No slippage or embarrassing moments
- Improved eating habits
- Easy cleaning

The Dental Implant Process
When it comes to replacing teeth, time is of the essence. As soon as a tooth goes missing, the jawbone no longer receives the stimulation it needs to maintain volume. So, it begins to break down, and when this happens, there’s no longer enough mass to support a dental implant. Thankfully, dental implants are securely attached to your jawbone, providing what’s needed to keep your jaw healthy and robust.
Following evaluation of your jaw and mouth and being deemed a good candidate for dental implants, we create a treatment plan that is tailored to your unique needs. If extraction and/or bone grafting are needed, those procedures happen first. When your jaw needs to be strengthened using a bone graft, several months of healing must take place before an implant can be placed.
When the times comes for implant surgery, we use local anesthetic to numb the area and offer nitrous oxide to help you relax, so you are comfortable and pain-free. The procedure of placing the titanium post in your jaw takes 30-60 minutes. During osseointegration, the following healing period in which the implant fuses with your jawbone, requires about three-six months.
Once that waiting period is complete, you’ll return to our office to have your final crown placed.

One of the advantages of choosing dental implants as your teeth replacement method is that caring for them is like caring for your natural teeth. Make sure to brush twice and floss once daily and attend professional cleanings and checkups regularly to maintain healthy teeth. Take care of your new teeth, and they will take care of you!
Cost of Dental Implants
The upfront cost of implants may seem overwhelming but when you consider all the benefits, they end up being the most affordable in the long run. Their longevity and the impact they have on your jaw health make them the most cost-effective tooth replacement option available.
Implants last longer than dentures and bridges and never need to be replaced, repaired, or relined. And anchored to your jaw like a natural tooth, they provide the stimulation needed to keep the bone from deteriorating.
When you come in for a consultation, we’ll provide you with all the costs and work with your insurance to determine if your policy covers any of the steps. We look forward to putting a smile back on your face. Call today at Harborside Dental Phone Number 231-946-0207 to schedule your consultation.
